Outreach & Service

K-12 Outreach, Diversity, and Inclusion

  • Prof. Markopoulos and his team support the RIT Center for Engineers of Color Creating Opportunities (ECCO) and participate in its outreach events. Outreach events at local schools, including the Nathaniel Rochester Community School Career Fair, in 2018 and 2019.

  • Prof. Markopoulos was one of the hosts of RIT’s Future Faculty Career Exploration Program (FFCEP) in 2016, representing the EME department. FFCEP is critical to the success of RIT’s goal to increase diversity and inclusivity for groups that are under-represented among its faculty and staff.

  • Prof. Markopoulos participated in the Beyond 9.8 series of half-day workshops at RIT, including demos and lectures to K-12 students.

  • Prof. Markopoulos is a co-organizer of the E-cubed Engineering and Technology Fair. In 2020, he served as Chair of the organizing committee. E-cubed is an annual fair at RIT, with demos and competitions for 6-8 graders from the Rochester area.
